"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against
such things there is no law." Galatians 5:22-23
DEFINITION:
Self-control
is to restrain one's emotions, actions, desires and to be in harmony
with the will of God. Self-control is doing God's will, not
living for one's self.
EXEMPLIFIED IN JESUS:
On the night Jesus
was betrayed, he knelt down and prayed, "Father, if you are willing,
take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done." Luke 22:42
"When
they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered,
he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who
judges justly."
1 Peter 2:23
