"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy,
peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and
self-control. Against such things there is no law." Galatians
5:22-23
DEFINITION:
Love is not
based on emotions or feelings. It is a decision to be committed
to the well being of others without any conditions or circumstances.
EXEMPLIFIED
IN JESUS:
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and
only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal
life." John 3:16
Jesus said, "As the
Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love." John 15:9
Jesus said, "My command is this: Love each other as
I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he
lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you
do what I command." John 15:12-14
OTHER SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:
"Dear
friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone
who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not
love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God
showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into
the world that we might live through him. This is love:
not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an
atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved
us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen
God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love
is made complete in us." 1 John 4:7-12.
